2018.02.06 | 青山道250 & 248 castle peak road 「純粹租房」是時鐘酒店的典型告白。網上搜尋,250號這棟唐樓1961年入伙,也找到此門牌時鐘酒店的資料。樓已舊,生意也應該不新。但這樓上的文字風景卻蠻風雅的。舊款綠色階磚,配襯紅色界飾,還有紅色立體雕字,陽光斜照影落。 248號的唐樓,年份應該相當,同一樓層另一門生意。平面招牌字也是紅色,字體老實方穩。可惜日久失修,其中一個「新」字不堪歲月掉了半邊。 有趣是兩組招牌字,猶如貼對門神互相呼應,一邊從左至右,一邊由右至左。 the 3-d chinese characters read from left to right means “room for rent only”. this is a common slogan for hourly room renting business used since old hong kong. even though such kind of business is usually “look down” by people, the presentation of […]

霓虹招牌 – 弼街通菜街 neon billboards – bute street crosses tung choi street

2017.11.26 | 弼街通菜街  bute street / tung choi street  旺角東站出來這片繁華地,霓虹招牌,依然豁亮,一條街道,竟然有多個霓虹燈,在政府執行了新的街道大型招牌的條例後,實在買少見少。 愛霓虹的朋友,要珍惜多來欣賞。特別是老寶號的省鏡招牌: 金城賓館,賓館已經是昏黃的事業;簡單的霓虹,佈局也訴說其歷史,中文右至左,英文左至右。巧妙地框框內只剩「城」中英文字亮著,王家衛的情懷飄蕩。 金華冰廳,遊客心目中的名牌茶餐廳,那不規則的招牌外框造型,顯示一種草根的不乖品性,冰廳茶餐廳本該如是。 百寶堂,門面金色銅製,是老式而具規模的涼茶鋪格局。招牌也可愛地以龜苓膏作招徠。 choose tung choi street/bute street exit at mong kok east mtr, you will easily come down to this stretch of road. what a bless. this street is still shining with more than one neon light billboards. after the government implemented the new […]
