西半山的圍牆 walls at mid-level west

first, guess it is not that common to see several walls in one sight. secondly, each wall has its characteristics.

this is at where robinson road meets park road.

at the lowest is an old stone wall that is typical in this part of the island. as hong kong island is hilly, there always need some wall and foundation to lay down before serious construction to make on top. there used to a be some quarries in hong kong producing (quality) granite. the old supreme court in central is one good example of great architecture featuring our local rocks.

on top of the stonewall is an added piece of work using a mix of bricks and concrete to create a now fading but originally quite fancy wall top.

then looking up from robinson road are two walls. the lower layer is a slap of concrete wall. yet, there are still points to take. love the pastel green. and one unusual thing is that it has a number of plant pot spaces. i seldom see wall giving some thoughts and rooms for plant.

further up is the most grand looking piece. its look extravaganza with many classical style columns. wondering if it was intended for a foundation or supporting wall or more. the residential block above is jade garden. it was completed in 1968. would the building and the wall built together? or there used to be older mansion standing before?
