2016.6.9 | 卑利街 – 威靈頓街 peel street & wellington street
heading west along wellington street in the afternoon on tuen ng festival aka dragon boat festival. central was nice and quiet on public holiday. that allowed me taking the stroll leisurely and making slow observation.
this pawn shop like many of its peers enjoy a street corner location because according to tradition, pawn shops make side doors to give the convenience to customers to leave on the side doors.
what strike me is the shop owns three signboards, not counting the one on the main entrance.
the one on the side of the shop is the most dazzling, golden mosaic as the backdrop of the proper and righteous calligraphic characters reading from right to left.
hanging high up is a neon light signage. the design is after the tradition of using a bat and auspicious colours. the more modern one is using an acrylic light box and that allows the shop to put on the english name of the shop.
