2015.11.29 | pottinger street 砵典乍街
this street existed since 1850s. locals call it “the stone staircase street”. i doubt every hongkongers remember the actual name – pottinger street. it was named after the first governor of this former british colony.
it is one of the top sights tourists like to visit. the fact is we locals love this street too. every weekend, you’ll see many of us camera-ing or selfie away. as you see, it is a hot wedding photo spot.
allow me to point out some other things i treasure about in this photo took on a sunday noon –
lovely winter sun to begin with;
all the living historic elements: the worn and uneven stone steps, the iron sheet built-stall, the central historic building group on the other side of the road;
my city fellow and busy traffic;
a quiet and diligent earth god street shrine;
and, all these add up to a common but lovely picture of hong kong
