international mail centre, hung hom is fairly young. it started operation in 1980. due to mtr shatin to central link, it was closed on march 8 2014 and now being demolished. the site will later be rebuilt as an extension of the hung hum mtr station.

the building did not have a lot of character in architecture sense. it was a big chunk with not many details nor window on the facade. but i like it, no fuss.

usually i saw it at the end of a walk from tsim sha tsui to hung hom along the promenade. the walk is always therapeutic, starting from the busy crazy touristsy tst harbourfront. the journey mellows down along the way. sea breezes and sceneries of the harbour and hong kong island on the other side are amazing all the time. the centre would then greet me at the end of the promenade. i love mail, sending and receiving. so i am very fond of post offices. this building maybe not very pretty. but it resonated postal services to me.

the new central mail centre has started in a more fancy and bigger building at kowloon bay months ago. no one perhaps except me feel sorry seeing this big guy has turned into piles of rubble.
