2014.9.13 | 油麻地果欄 fruit market, yau ma tei
love the vigorous images of movers and trolleys buzzing and dashing around when the midnight oil burns at the fruit market. but those are the images i saw on tv and documentaries. so far i haven’t got a chance to visit this place at night, its real working hours.
i however visit this place once in a while during daytime. it is calmer one could imagine, but don’t make a mistake thinking it is a sleeping corner under the daylight. shops fronting shanghai street operate and busy in the afternoons. cars are parking next to the street, and shop owners and customers keep getting out and taking away trays of beautiful, lush and fragrant fruits.
there is another corner of the fruit market i adore. the truck car park next to it. it smells like a sleeping tiger as the trucks and shelves and partitions you could imagine sweating and hardworking at night are now resting quietly here.
