keeping goldfish used to be a popular hobby, especially among families with kids. the heyday days were long gone. tropical fishes and even stranger species are the stars now and goldfish stalls are an endangered species.
i guess i am a hongkonger after all; every time passing a goldfish stall, first thing strikes me is how the business survives, i worry for the owner.
on second thought, fish-keepers are probably more patient, calm and easygoing as they spend all the time taking care of fishes and influenced by them.
these days when i see a goldfish stall, i will spend at least some minutes to appreciate the beauty weaved by the shimmering colours of the goldfish and the geometry fairness of the tanks, and quietly send my best wishes to the owner.
