2014.2.16 | 堅道71 caine road
last sunday, after working whole day at the botanic gardens, i craved for a hot yuen-yang (coffee-milk tea mix). at around 4:30 in the afternoon, i quickly walked towards caine road through the exit at glenealy.
my destination was new blue pool bakery / restaurant.
this “cha chaan tan” probably is more than 50 years old. it started as a bakery and then extended to a restaurant. the shop space is old and worn, but tidy. in hong kong, one cannot help treasuring every time visiting an old shop. i felt blessed and paid a look of respect to each corner of the shop: the menu board stood outside the entrance, the big glass bakery cupboard, the old tiles on the wall, the simple tables and chairs.
ahh, the grumpy uncle waiter, great seeing him that day; he is still serving customers promptly and bold. uncle is old and skinny, his manner is a bit rough. but he does not mistreat customers. great character.
