2013.5.26 | 東邊街 eastern street
i grew up in the western part of hong kong. when i was young, every early summer when walking down the street, there were always families of barn swallow stay put at corners of the roof ceilings of walk-up buildings. watching swallow parents dashed in and out, swallow chicks squeaked in the nests, it felt animated, warm and auspicious. old style buildings are fading in the past few decades. the city became less nesting-friendly to barn swallow.
i started tracing barn swallow two years ago as armature. along sai ying pun, there are still couples of living swallow nests seen every year. like this one.
