2013.5.9 | 上海街 shanghai street
there seems to be two buildings along this block of walk-up buildings. 311 is one, which is narrower. the one by its side is of kee-lau (veranda) style. this is one symbolic architecture style of guangzhou and hong kong in the early to mid-20th century.
a number of such old buildings are surviving along shanghai street, sheltering a variety of traditional or household (to some almost outdated) businesses. in this photo, the two shops outside are selling (and one is manufacturing as well) ancestral cabinet and traditional carving ornaments, while the one in middle sells stainless steel utensils.
